Day 8

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.

One of my favourite sci-fi shows is Babylon 5, set on a space station, which was made in the ‘90’s and had five seasons. Certainly the season 3 cliffhanger has been voted as one of the best ever.

Anyway, one of my favourite episodes (and a good stand-alone) is Season 2’s  ‘A Distant Star’. The new captain is trying to adjust to his role. It doesn’t help when buddy Captain Jack turns up on his snazzy exploring ship ‘Cortez’ and is all, desk job OMG? But when the ‘Cortez’ becomes lost in hyperspace, our captain has work to do. Unfortunately there’s something creepy lurking in hyperspace…

A good sci-fi action episode with a hint of horror -  I would love to own the 'Cortez'.

Yay for Babylon 5! It's one of my favorite shows of all time, if not the favorite :)

It was only on rewatch that I properly appreciated the early Sheridan episodes, where he's still unsure about this whole administrative job he got himself into and the mess he inherited.

And The Cortez was a really cool ship! (Also, I've just always loved the ship naming conventions in B5 'verse).

Yes, I liked how the ship names were clues as to what the episode would be about.

Babylon 5 is one of my very top SF TV shows, along with Farscape and Blake's 7.

I have no idea why Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory despises it. It's heaps better than Firefly.

Babylon 5 isn't perfect, but it's better than a lot of shows out there.

I was never really a big Firefly fan; it seemed you were either a super-fan or you weren't.

B5! I loved this one. When people talk about female characters and lgbt characters I think how far ahead of its time B5 was. This show had a lot of drama and touched on important issues, but had plenty of action, humour, etc.

It was a great show, and ahead of its time, sometimes. :)
