Stormy weather

Well, New Zealand is dealing with a tropical storm at the moment. Yesterday it rained all day, then it stopped in the evening and the gale force winds started up and lasted all night; I woke feeling a bit wild-eyed. Today features both wind and rain, yay. There's been power outages nearby, so at least my neighborhood has been spared that.

Storm is heading south, so be careful South Island f-list.

The flooding and damage I just watched on the news was very scary. (And said news was delayed due to a fire in the TVNZ building, but presumably completely unconnected.)

I think it will avoid us. The hills protect us from a lot unless it comes from the sea.

Yes, the news footage looked scary. Went out today and there were lots of fallen branches everywhere.

Here's hoping it avoids you.

So far it has; just a few light showers. We had enough damage in the floods a few months ago - not us personally as we're on a hill*, but people living on the flat, and several bridges got washed out or holed including one in town, now fixed.

That's good to hear, since it sounds like your area has had enough of floods.
