Challenge # 3

In your own space, put some favourite characters in an AU, fuse some favourite canons together, talk about your favourite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren't your cup of tea.

My favourite trope is canon-divergent AU's and that's what most of my fan fiction on A03 is; my current fandom is Lucifer (TV) and I've written a few of these for it. I like it because you can change a detail in canon and then end up with a whole new story that can turn out bad or good.

I'm not into writing fusions, they take a skill I don't really have, really. I admire people who can do it and one of my favourites is 'like once in a life'  which is a Lucifer (TV) / Pacific Rim fusion. Chloe Decker gets an unusual partner in her efforts to fight off the invading aliens. Because even he doesn't like the aliens, either.

I love AUs of all stripes, and PacRim does lend itself to fusions for a favourite canon. It's quite fun noting all the ways that people distinguish AUs - in Sentinel fandom, parallel AU was sometimes used before canon divergent became the thing. And I knew someone who would describe AUs far away from canon - Regency, In Spaaaace, etc as 'extreme' AUs. Like an extreme sport, for some people.

Canon divergence AUs are definitely my favorite too. They offer so many possibilities while still engaging with the canon that we love.

Hm, thanks for reminding me that I should get caught up on Lucifer!
