This and That

Today has been another wet, stormy and cold day but for now we're between rain showers.
Tonight on TV it's the final of the World Cup cricket match between New Zealand and England. I won't be staying up during the night to watch it, but I'm sure a lot of fellow NZ'ers will. I will be crossing my fingers.
I currently watching the first season of 'Lucifer' (based on the Neil Gaiman comic) I got out from the library. Hello, shiny new fandom! There's been lots of funny scenes. I think if you liked 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' you'd like this. It was always screened late at night so I had only seen glimpses.
So, we have Chloe, unpopular policewoman and single mum in LA. When a famous singer is killed outside a nightclub, she find herself teaming up to solve the case (and others from then on) with the clubs annoying owner, a handsome Brit playboy who calls himself Lucifer, and wants justice for the singer (he had helped her become a star). Obviously he's a bit eccentric, and puzzled as to why Chloe's immune to his charms. There's something weird about him (super strength, bad guys are really afraid of him) but there must be a rational reason. The dynamic between them reminds me a bit of Han Solo / Princess Leia. He says something witty while they're investigating a case, she's not sure whether to roll her eyes or laugh.
There was one scene that did bring a bit of a lump to my throat.
So obvs, he really is Lucifer who is taking a vacation from Hell and LA is the perfect holiday spot. He's not sure why Chloe isn't falling for his charm and being a bit clueless around humans, he decides he'll greet Chloe shirtless when she visits the club after hours. That will surely work! *facepalm* So she turns up, is surprised and then clearly starts thinking, 'why did I wake up this morning'. He twirls around shirtless to please her and she sees two scars on his back (where wings have been). Alarmed, she rushes over, asks if his back hurts, what happened. He promptly goes from trying to woo her into bed to feeling confused / vulnerable she's showing compassion. He can't cope and he backs off. Tom Ellis as Lucifer is yum. :D

I am actually rewatching the first season right now, after having seen it two years ago.
I agree, Tom Ellis is great as Lucifer. Just the right amount debauchery.

I did feel a bit sorry for him when he was looking for his lost wings and Chloe is all, 'are you into cosplay? hee hee'.
