A different read of 'Many Coloured Land'

imhilienI was curious to see if anyone else had done a re-read of Julian May's books, and I did find someone who had started a re-read of 'Many Coloured Land' last year, but had only got as far as chapter 9.
Well, better than nothing! For what it has, it's a good read and I hope it resumes at some point. Worth looking at just for the picture of Julian dressed up in a costume for a science-fiction convention in the '70's. Apparently the Exiles / Milieu books sprang from her wondering who would actually wear such a thing and why? LOL.

I did chuckle at the part where the re-reader mentions how disgraced starship captain Richard dresses up as The Flying Dutchman before his time travel trip to the Pliocene -
"The splendid sight of Stein in his [Viking] garb inspires Richard to follow suit, and he purchases a costume from Der fliegende Hollander, which is not foreshadowing in any way, shape, or form. But all agree that Richard makes a fine-looking pirate."
