Fandom Snowflake Challenge #6
In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a show, a specific TV episode, a storyline, a book or series, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
One of my favourite books is 'Games of Command' by Linnea Sinclair, a space opera / romance. An alliance has been set up between two former enemies, the Triad and the United Coalition. Captain Tasha 'Sass' Sebastian from the United Coalition, a wise-cracking, kick ass woman is alarmed to learn she has been assigned to the Vaxxar, a huntership commanded by the handsome Admiral Branden Kel-Paten, a biocybernetic. When she was with the United Coalition, the Admiral was her enemy and constantly pursuing her through space. Has a decision been made to get her out of the way for good?
Not exactly. Branden's secret is that he has a big crush on her, but is shy and hasn't known how to have an actual conversation with her all these years. Solution - assign her to his ship!
But Tasha's secret is that she is a former smuggler thought to have died years ago - something Branden would be angry to learn. But if people learn he has forbidden feelings for a woman, he could be killed as a 'failed experiment'.
So, there's lots of drama and secret pining. Also, telepathic cats.

I feel like maybe I read this one, or possibly another one by this author which also had the blurb for this one. (They had these mono-colored-but-different-shades-of-it covers? Although that may have been just the UK/US ones.)

An Accidental Goddess was the first book of hers I read, but it had a normal (non-purple) cover. Apparently the author is writing a new book that is three-quarters finished, so I'm looking forward to that one day.
