Hot times

Phew, it's hot today and I've got a fan going - for me this means it's hot. It's 30 degrees (90 deg F). A heat wave that's been menacing Australia has arrived here (a lot of our weather comes from Australia). I'm wearing a bamboo fibre t-shirt and leggings which has helped a bit, as they're good to wear in hot weather.

Last week the hall of my old intermediate school* caught fire due to workmen doing maintenance and apparently a third of the school is damaged. This was upsetting because it was also the school my mum and her siblings went to as well. When I attended eons ago, I saw my first computer - it was a clunky, black and white thing that only played a mathematics game. But it had a sound card, and we were all fascinated. Internet - what was that?

*I was there when I was eleven and twelve years old

Here it is quite cold and the wind is stripping the heat out of the house. >_

Yyyyeah. I tried running a space heater and it broke my office. We had to reroute through an extension cord, and I gave up on the heater. At least with a fire going the house is livable.

I'm sorry to hear about your old school. It's always sad to lose a part of your history.

It's hot down here too, but at least it's a lot less humid. I had to have the fan going all night, but on low.

Definitely! It used to go as high as 45 in Israel but it was dry so - literally no sweat! I had to have a siesta though.

I really hope temperatures are not going to climb much higher for you.
That happened to my husband's school as well a couple of years ago. As we live near, we saw the fire from our house - that was really scary.

Are they going to rebuild it? I hope so.
